Hittade en hel blogg dedikerad till skålen och fick mailkontakt med bloggaren och frågade om hon visste om det funnits en äkta skål som var så stor, tidigare.
Och hon svarade:
"Hello, I'd love to see a picture of your specimen. There were a lot of variations during the years, but I've never heard of a bigger size. But if you send me a picture I can judge if it's real or not.

Jag skickade en bild (och tänkte att hon var finska och borde ha läst svenska i skolan):
"Sorry about the bad quality i used the ipad2 camera. It has a line through the row of dots up close to the edge which makes me wonder if it is a copy. En "skarv", the swedish word is probably translated as joint or connection."
Och hon analyserade min bild och svarade:
"Hi Signe.
After seeing the picture I am quite sure I can tell you that this is a fake, in the sense that it is not a bowl ever produced by Iittala or Nuutajarvi. But it is quite certainly old. In my collector's career I met several times very old bowls (the owners claimed they were from the 60s or 70s) that were completely off (the shape, the weight or height, the quality of the glass – usually fakes are lighter); but I wonder: can we talk about "fakes" in those years? Other glass factories probably had a production similar to Maribowls (which was created by Iittala based on an older, German bowl shape), even without being a direct copy of the "official" production. So I would say that yes, this is a fake in the sense it's not produced by the same company that has always produced the official bowls, but it is probably a nice historical piece.

Och jag svarade avslutande: (och tänkte fortfarande att hon var finska därav de inslängda svenska orden men hon är nog italienska)
"Thank you for taking your time! My kids and I bought it at a second hand shop, payed about ten euro, this morning we have made chocolate sweets "choklad-bollar" and our plan is to fill the bowl and serve a bunch of seven year olds at a birthday party.
Now i have a nice story to tell the parents (some of them are collectors of Maribowls).

Men oj, känner du folk som samlar på en viss bestämd sorts glasskålar? Blir inte det förfärligt tråkigt? (Som samling betraktat, säkert inte som vänner!)
Priset gör att samlingarna håller sig små http://www.pricerunner.se/sp/iittala-marimekko-skål.html men man kan få en liten mariskooli på köpet om man prenumererar på en tidning har det sagts mig
Man kan se det som en samling eller som bruksföremål. Jag har fyra små Iittala skålar i klarglas, 125 ml. Snygga att dela lördagssodis i. Rymmer typ en glasskula. Med andra ord, bra när något litet gott ska se lyxigt ut.
